Kansas City Deaerator has always been active in the ASME, both at the local and national levels. Recently, we have been attending ASME Boiler and Pressure Vessel Committee meetings with the intent of joining the Subgroup on General Requirements. Through this involvement, we can stay abreast of new developments in the code and help shape future modifications of the code.

HEI

Kansas City Deaerator Company was instrumental in reinstating the Heat Exchange Institute for deaerators in 1988. Up to that date, the latest revision of the Heat Exchange Institute specification for deaerators was written in 1963. Kansas City Deaerator Company, along with major deaerator suppliers rewrote the 1963 4th edition in 1989 to incorporate testing and post weld heat treat along with other items after there were concerns within the industry. To date, Kansas City Deaerator Company has held numerous positions in the Heat Exchange Institute Deaerator Section and has been key to rewriting and updating the specifications.

ASTM

Kansas City Deaerator Company was instrumental in updating and rewriting the ASTM PTC 12.3 for deaerator testing. KCD recommends following the ASTM procedures for testing deaerators when ultimate testing performance is required.

NACE

With the concern over deaerator failures from the mid 80’s, Kansas City Deaerator Company has followed the NACE procedures and supports the NACE requirements for deaerators. Kansas City Deaerator Company recommends the NACE standards and introduced the NACE requirement into the Heat Exchange Institute specifications for deaerators.

EPRI

Kansas City Deaerator Company has worked with EPRI to provide technical support for deaerator maintenance and repairs. Specifically, Kansas City Deaerator Company has provided a study to EPRI for Flow Accelerated Corrosion along with deaerator vessel considerations.
